MEET CORNEL

Cornel Olar is a Romanian music producer, songwriter, music educator, and worship leader. He began playing classical guitar nearly two decades ago and quickly grew to become an extraordinarily accomplished acoustic and electric guitarist, as well as bass player. He played with several bands and earned a respected reputation in certain music circles in Europe. Producing numerous albums for bands as well as solo artists, he specializes in all aspects of music production. Cornel writes, orchestrates, arranges songs, plays all the guitar parts (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar), programs the drums, directs musicians and vocalists, engineers the recording, and mixes and masters for post-production.

Cornel was offered the role of lead engineer and producer at the respected Christian Studio Mesaj in Cluj. His work has earned the respect of television producers and music critics alike, including one of the oldest and well-known bands in Romania (Phoenix) who asked him to join their band as a guitarist, and famous Romanian artists such as Proconsul (well-respected mainstream band) and Paula Seling (singer, judge on Romanian X-Factor and Eurovision songfestival competitor) having him perform as part of their opening act. He has been an expert judge in distinctive talent competitions in Romania, and won “Hunedoara’s Got Talent” together with one of his students.

Currently residing in the small village of Romosel, Romania, he is married to Shari Weyts of Belgium. Together they serve with her parentʼs humanitarian aid organization, Talmid Ministries. Through sponsorship programs, widows, children, and poor families are financially supported, given food, shelter, clothing, medicine, and educational aid. By doing these things they are serving the poor in a spiritual way. Shari teaches classes to the gypsy children, organizes and delivers parcels and money to the families, is a translator, and serves as an administrator for the ministry.

Cornel is currently leading worship, teaching guitar lessons, training worship teams throughout Romania, and producing American artist Stacy Marie Walkerʼs Christian musical epic “TRANSCEND: The Trilogy” in which he is also the head engineer, lead guitarist, and musical director for live shows.
